Forever and ever on my blog. I’m gonna paint this on my wall.

That was quicker than anyone expected. Two days late for NC, but I think it means my previous blog post will come true. Everyone is turning around, and when an African-American Christian Democrat President changes his views, that is a huge positive, especially since for the bloc of voters that demographically identify with the President. It will create the conversation, create the proper tone, and hopefully push legislative, personal, and judicial decisions in the right way.

Angry running is the best running. 1.5 Miles, just a moment ago. Went from Livid to Relief in 15 minutes. I forgot how cathartic a good workout was.
Have not been eating better. Whoops. Apple a day, yes… lots more carbs though.
I wrote a pretty good blog. I’m sure there are some editorial things that could be fixed, but it was nice writing it.
Didn’t read, watched Avengers. Great movie.
And now bedtime.
That was expected, but I hoped it would be closer. Not angry, but disappointed.
North Carolina in 1875 banned Interracial Marriage. North Carolina overturned that in 1971 after the Supreme Court allowed it after ruling in Loving Vs. Virginia.
North Carolina in 2012 banned Gay Marriage and Civil Unions. North Carolina overturned that in 201_ after the Supreme Court allowed it after ruling in Perry v. Berry.
It WILL be overturned. This decision just gives lawyers an economic stimulus as they get a chance to argue their case and how this NC constitutional amendment is unconstitutional under the scope of the Constitution of the United States. When Prop 8 goes to the SCOTUS, it will get overturned and Amendments like these won’t matter. (If SCOTUS does go in the other direction… well, I hope it won’t.)
This passing of Amendment 1 just confirms what I basically knew: There are some very cool places to live in North Carolina. Raleigh, Asheville, Charlotte, etc are filled with people that respect others. Unfortunately, some people that claim to have “Southern Hospitality” only care about that as long as you are straight. Some of them don’t know a gay person, and thus don’t know how this might hurt them. Hopefully they can be educated in the near future.
Virginia is similar to North Carolina is a lot of ways. The NoVA area (Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, etc) are very progressive. Same with Richmond and Norfolk. But when you start heading west, you start finding bumper stickers that make me embarrassed to be a fellow American. However, the progressive message is spreading. I would even say some of those people in those areas would be okay with Interracial marriage, when 50 years ago they wouldn’t be. (Just go look at approval of Interracial Marriage before and after Loving vs Virginia… it was still very low until decades after the overturning)
The case for Gay Marriage is much stronger. A majority of US Citizens are in favor of it, even before the Supreme Court has had to act on it. When it makes it legal, people will change their minds about it.
And fortunately, it won’t take 100 years this time.
Note to self: Going out on a Monday night does not make accomplishing goals possible.
Other lesson: Not having a working phone is really nice, actually. I could have spent half the night checking the score for the Caps game, checking Twitter and Facebook updates, and other random browsing, but instead just paid attention to what was going on and who I was with. It was pretty nice, and my brain felt like it could focus on the conversation. Maybe I won’t install those apps when I get my replacement phone tomorrow and for the rest of the 30 days.
Going to be giving up beer as well. I had 3 tonight, but over the course of 5 hours. Should be interesting!
I did get a run in; 1.5 miles until my ankles complained. Not sure why.
